At PODS, we know things don’t always go to plan when you are moving. It can be a really stressful time, so we want to try and help as much as we can. For this reason we offer our postponement /cancellation waiver.
A removal fee is an essential cost to bear in mind. Depending on the type of removal and services you require it can be anything from a few hundred to several thousand pounds. It is a fee that is often forgotten about when you arrange to sell your home and once you book and pay you want to make sure your money is safe.
So where do you start with the cancellation or postponement waiver?
You have your quote from PODS, you’re happy with the price and your removal is all ready to go… However, you may be waiting on dates from solicitors and perhaps no one can 100% commit to a date until the week or so before you are due to move. You may have a provisional moving date that you want to book but you don’t yet have 100% confirmation.
That’s why at PODS we give you the option to add a postponement/cancellation waiver to your booking. You can book and reserve your prospective moving date well in advance to make sure you secure your chosen date. When you book your removal and/or storage service simply add the waiver to your booking and pay it alongside your other booked services.
This then gives you the peace of mind that, should your date change, you won’t be subject to any penalty fees. This is the case even if you cancel with 24-48 hours notice.
What does the postponement/cancellation waiver give you?
Ultimately, it gives you peace of mind that should anything go wrong or there be any changes to your agreed move date you won’t incur any fees.
The postponement/cancellation waiver enables you to cancel or reschedule ONCE without incurring any charges. You must notify us the day before your move is due to start (at the very least) . This gives you peace of mind that you’re covered if anything should go drastically wrong in the run up to your move. We know that things can change at the last minute, which is why we offer this option.
What happens if I don't have the waiver?
If you cancel or postpone your removal with less than 48 hours notice and you have not taken the waiver we can charge up to 100% of the removal to cover our costs.
Our terms on postponement or cancellation are below:
6. Postponement or Cancellation
6.1 We reserve the right to charge you a postponement or cancellation fee according to how much notice is given, as follows:
6.1.1 More than 10 working days before the removal was due to start: No charge.
6.1.2 between 5 and 10 working days before the move was due to start: up to 25% of the removal charge.
6.1.3 5 working days before the work was due to start: up to 50% of the removal charge.
6.1.4 within 48 hours of the agreed time that the work was due to start: up to 100% of the removal charge.
6.2 If we cancel your move, you will be refunded in full.
6.2.1 If we cancel on the day of your move, we will refund all monies plus 20% of the cost of the move on our quote.
6.3 You can choose to add our postponement/cancellation waiver which is a set fee charged when you book your removal service. It enables you to pay in full to secure your moving date as normal. By paying the added waiver you are entitled to cancel/postpone the move with 1 working days notice on one occasion only with no fees or penalties as above. It covers you if you have to postpone or cancel at short notice and you only lose/pay the waiver charge.

Why do we offer/charge the postponement/cancellation waiver?
Professional removals are a carefully planned operation. Once you’ve booked your move date in, we will plan and reserve the resources to carry your removal out. This means planning for our staff, drivers, trucks, packing materials, packing services, any parking plans that need to be put in place at either properties, or anything else that’s needed to ensure you have a stress-free move. Cancelling a move at short notice means that there’s no guarantee we can secure another booking (especially if it’s only a day before) to make use of these resources. Because of this we will incur a certain level of costs which you’ve committed to pay for. If you can’t move on your booked date we will still incur these costs.
During busy periods certain dates, especially Fridays can book up weeks in advance. By being able to book and add the cancellation/postponement waiver you can secure your date in plenty of time and know that you can always change it if you need to.
How do you add it?
It will be an option on your removal quote. Simply tick it along with the other services you need and it will be added and confirmed when you make payment.
